Oh dear. School is about to start again. I have work almost all the way to the beginning of the year. Guess my summer is already over and I didn't even get to commemorate its passing. It passed without my appreciating it. It's been a stressful summer and not the restful, lazy period I had wished for after last year's exams. I guess I have to put all my hopes in next year's summer. More on that in a bit.
My main consolation this summer is the new discovery of Doctor Who. I think I've mentioned in a previous post that a tutor recommended Doctor Who, and since he was a Star Wars fan (and therefore cool), I decided to put aside my American derision of other countries' attempts at science fiction, and watch a couple episodes. I admit that I didn't fall in love with it right away. It took about a season, but now, I get that warm goosh of endorphins one experiences when they're in love, every time I see David Tennant. I'm tentatively planning a 'Christmas Special,' a Doctor Who themed party in December. Good luck me!
Squeeee!!!
Amy and Rory, the costumes I want for Xinye and I
I'm a little bummed that with all the time and effort I've put into my dissertation over the summer, I've essentially done almost nothing. I'm thinking this is going to be more stressful than I'd planned on it being. Dumb paper! I have my school schedule for the year, and the week will be 4 days long, and mostly in the afternoon, which is nice (I'm not a morning person in any way, shape, or form). The only poopy part of this is that it's going to be hard to find a part time job that will work around this schedule.
Ok, back to the part where I was talking about next year's summer! Our current plan is to go to China and see the big stuff in a two week long holiday! This kind of stuff...
Oh Yeah! Anyone have any more recommendations? I know practically nothing of China so I'd love to hear from people who know more than I!
One shining light is that Dad and Lisa are coming to visit. I've mapped out three days of tourist stuff for us to do. Of course, things almost never turn out exactly the way you plan, so we may not finish everything on my list, we may end up seeing different things, who knows. I'll write more on that after the fact. Hopefully there will be pictures on Facebook as well. So no pictures = bad job of tourist guide. I, personally am praying for lots of pictures!
K, that's what's been on my mind recently. Thanks for reading so patiently!

Yeah... it started with your previous post about Dr. Who. Slowly, I started seeing random Dr. Who pictures or references around the internet. Then last week a friend asked me if I watched the show. I said no and he looked shocked, "I thought you were a scifi person?!" That was the last straw. I did some research on the series and decided that the 10th and 11th doctors are the cutest and so I should start with one of their episodes. It seems that the 10th doctor, David Tennant, was very well loved but I decided to watch the first episode with the 11th doctor, Matt Smith. He was the only doctor to be nominated... or win an acting award for his role in the show. Anyway.... Loved it!
Alright! You did miss the best Doctor though. Tennant is, well, I'm in love with him now. You need to go back and watch the 10th doctor. And yay! Another fan won for the Doctor! Congrats.
